Monica Gonzales

Hi, my name is Monica Gonzales, Executive Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Grand Prairie.

I have been in this assignment/position for two years. It has been an amazing opportunity to be able to not only share my story as a client contemplating abortion but also to encourage others going through similar struggles when I walked in through the doors of PRCGP 21 years ago. The Center’s impact on my life and my baby’s life still speaks volumes even to this day. And now, to be walking in the calling God has placed in my path is only something that He could orchestrate.

My vision is to inspire other women who believe that the impossible IS POSSIBLE! Every obstacle that comes in front of us to distract or hinder is only a step closer to our Blessings.

My goal is to edify and build up every woman that crosses my path, who feels beaten down and hopeless. To allow herself to know her worth, embrace her with love and grace—the same shown upon me.

After hearing about the Center’s ministry during a Church service, I felt a heaviness in my heart and realized there were unresolved issues within my life. I’m a survivor of my mother’s failed, self-induced abortion and battled with rejection and identity, but that day my healing journey began.
Two years later, the Center pleaded for bilingual volunteers due to the growing number of Spanish-speaking women in our community and I felt the LORD compelling me to serve.
Through experience I have been able to relate and communicate how abortion can compound the crisis rather than resolve it. According to my faith, God is not surprised by their unexpected pregnancy; allowing the opportunity to share the Gospel and the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

I fell in love with everything about the PRCGP in June of 2012 when someone from the Center spoke to our women’s group, and in August 2012, I was blessed to become a volunteer advocate. In the beginning, I was only able to volunteer one day a week, and I looked forward to being there and having the opportunity to be of service in whatever area I was needed. As time went on I eventually began volunteering full-time, where I was eventually presented with a staff position.

I love being able to do one-on-one with the ladies that come in. Some require more than just a pregnancy test; they need someone not just to listen but to hear them, be seen and know that someone cares. So my motto became “A friend for the journey,” I want them to see that I will be there for them until they don’t need me anymore.
